RMC/RMU requirement for a 10 week internship led me to Mt. Sinai in Chicago Illinois. During this, I started with basic desktop support and ended with full domain admin privileges running and maintaining 3k devices, including 300 servers and multiple storage arrays. This experience was incredibly humbling while allowing me to interact with other teams including networking, Citrix, EHR systems, and everything Microsoft. I was also fortunate to receive an offer to stay on prior to the end of the internship for which I am forever grateful.
In addition to managing multiple systems, there were opportunities to collaborate with other teams and get a better understanding on system integrations and headaches that they experience. My communication skills were able to broaden as I was also required to interact with various departments including surgical, upper management, and legal.
These are some of the systems that I had a decent part of in managing.
